Alex's writing

   For this blog I will show you some of my writing   And it's a play called Musem madness!!!. And it's 8 pages long so sorry about this.So I hope you can tell me what's good  what needs improving and what's good. So the story is about 2 boys and 2 girls
And when they go into the museum they bump into a golden statue. 

             Museum Madness !!!

Teacher : Ok can everyone please walk single file to the school bus. 
Ben : Oh boy. I hope this museum is better than the last one. It was so boring I fell asleep
Carlos: Ben did you hear that? This museum has a real gold statue in there. 
Narrator : But behind them were Stefany and Emily, eavesdropping.
Emily : Really Carlos? You think it’s a real gold statue, ha dream on.
Stephanie: Emily’s right. It’s a fake gold statue. Just look at the newspaper. It looks fake.
Ben: Ok let’s just stop fighting and listen to the Teacher to see what group we’re in ok?.
Emily: FINE!!.
Stephanie: FINE!!.
Carlos: FINE!!. 
Narrator: So after five minutes the last group was called out.
Teacher: Ok and the last group is Emily and Stephanie.
Emily and Stephanie: Ya we’re in the same group.
Teacher: And  Ben and Carlos.
Emily and Stephanie: Nooooo!!
Ben and Carlos: nooooo!!
Teacher: Ok please go on the school bus and fill up from back to the front of the bus. Thank you.
Narrator : So one minute later the school bus was full except for two seats. Ben, Carlos, Emily, and Stephanie were all looking  at each other.
Ben : I call window seat. 
Carlos : No I do. 
Emily : No I do .
Stephanie : No I do.
Narrator : So they all race to the last two seats but as they’re all fighting over the last two seats the Teacher is looking at them and tells them off.
Teacher : Hey!! you  four stop fighting Emily, Stephanie, Ben, Carlos just sit down on the two seats there’s plenty of room for all four of you.
Narrator : One hour later after that long bus ride they finally got the the Museum of natural history and got off the school bus and got into their groups.
Teacher : Ok, you can go and look at anything you want to look at.
Ben : I want to look at the the golden statue to see if it’s real or not.
Emily : Ok let’s see it then.
Stephanie : But it’s up at the top floor. Are we really going all that way just to see if it’s real or not?.
Emily and Ben : Yes.
Stephanie : Ok.
Narrator : Then Emily, Ben, and Stephanie left Carlos behind and went straight to the golden statue to see if it was fake or not and then a minute later they got to the room of the golden statue.
Ben : Wow it looks so real.
Emily : Well will see it to believe it then.
Narrator : Then Ben puts his hand out and touches the golden statue and an alarm goes off and two security guards came running as fast as they can.
Security guard one : What happened here? Did one of you touch the statue?
Ben : No.
Stephanie : No.
Emily : No.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                
Security guard two: Ok then.
Ben : But we did see a man. And he touched it.
Security guard one : Well do you know where he went?
Ben : Yes he went running towards the exit.
Security guard two : Ok maybe we can still go catch him in time.
Emily : Well you better go and get him then.
Security guard one : Ok then but stay out of trouble Ok?
Ben : Ok.
Emily : Ok 
Stephanie : Ok
Ben : So let’s see.
Narrator : Then Ben tries to touches it for the second time.
Ben : It feels heavy and really hard.
Emily : Ok I’ve got an app that if you take a picture it will tell you what it is.
Stephanie : Well what are you waiting for just do it.
Emily : Well ok.
Narrator : 3 minutes later the app finally finishes .
Ben : So is it real or not Emily?
Emily: It’s real.
Ben : Yes I was right in your face.
Stephanie : Ok guys we should be going now before we get caught.
Ben : Ok let’s go. 
Narrator : Then  when Ben takes his hand off the statue, the statue starts and shakes and falls and snaps in half onto the ground.
Emily and stephanie : What have you done Ben!!!.
Ben : Hey it’s not my fault plus this would not have happened if you did not eavesdrop on us.
Emily : No don't you drop this on us it’s Carlos’s fault, he’s the one who said there was a real gold statue.
Stephanie : Anyway where is Carlos?
Ben : I think he’s at the history centre.
Carlos asleep/ : snore, snore, snore.
Emily : Anyway we have to fix this up. Right? 
Ben : Ok let’s look through our bags to see if there’s any glue.
Narrator : After 7 several minutes looking for glue but they find nothing until Ben finds something. 
Ben : Hey guy’s look at what I found.
Emily : What is it?
Ben : Tooth paste.
Stephanie : And what do you have tooth paste for? 
Ben : I don’t know?
Emily : Well, maybe use the toothpaste and glue it back. 
Ben : Ok.
Stephanie : Ok.              
 Narrator : 1 hour later they finally finished.
Ben : Come on let’s get out of here.
Emily : Ok, but don’t forget Carlos, Ok?
Ben : Ok.
Stephanie : Ok.
News man : Breaking news, the golden statue has been broken and who ever did it tried to fix it with toothpaste and this has been  seven news.

Of all the creatures that roamed the earth the Plateau school bush’s Langle Droop was the cutest fluff ball ever.

I was walking up the stairs i saw a purple thing running i started to run it stopped it had no where to go it was so cute it had cute eyes its fur was so soft it was so sced i said “hello  it said hello bake it was a very cutest voice she said do you wont to be my friend ok my name is Emma min is claire sorry if i sced you i was getting wom i will give you my jacket so you can get wom ok i better go i her someone coming it mit be my enemy i will hid you ok so you downt get scared cwik we woll hid in the trees let's go how about i will take you home lets go i need to taw my mum and dad my mum said when you are a baby you need to run away taw me where to go ok is not long its vat home ver i see my mum and dad lets run mum dad arw enames cik mum can my friend came shor i will sown go to school ok i fawnd her cool so i pot jakite arand her thankyou you haft to be awored her popolre fluff and she is so clever she now wen someone is caming

What is Plateau school doing.

Yesterday Ruru went to Maidstone intermediate.In witing we have been doing plays and then we got to act it out in class.


We did some more writing on a horse and they were all good.



We are getting CHICKENS for the school and the CHCKENS that we are getting are mine we have lots of CHICKENS so the school is getting some.

Yesterday we went to Maidstone intermediate for a view for when we move on to intermediate.

At Maidstone intermediate we got a tour of the school and a taste of every day life at the school.

My group was the first group to do the cooking class we got to ice cup cakes and make Yummy rolls the best part was eating them.

Then we got to work on Fabrics It was not that fun but we still made fake post cards.

After that we did some sport for the sport we did a game of soccer we tied 0/0.

After that is was finely time to catch a bus back to our school.

Our trip to Maidstone

One Wednesday was going to be great because we are going to Maidstone to see if we want to go to Maidstone when we got there we were greeted by a great kapa huka performs then we got into groups and got to be a Maidstone student for a day and we made little kiwis and it took about 30 minutes and after that we went to the school hall and had some food and got to lesson to two bands then .we got to do plays and drama and it was so fun! then we got back to the hall and did some sport and we did football/soccer and my team one by a total of there goals and i scored one goal then we got to have a tour around Maidstone and if we were good we would get a golden ticket. and we could win a prize but sad thing is no one from plateau school got nothing but the lucky person was a girl from mangaroa school called Marie who won a sports bag as the prize and when we got back from Maidstone we put the chairs up and read a book then the school day was over.

Yesterday RURU class went to Maidstone intermediate for a tour and had a turn at some of the activities we walked around the class and we saw same of the students working with their writing book but we work a lot on a Chromebook. I am looking forward to writing in a book because I prefer that. I am used to using a pencil, not a keyboard.

In kea class we have been doing writing math reading and most of all we have used chrome books  to do our writing , research and presentations.
I normally have to edit  my writing because I don't normally don't pay much ate chin to spelling. Some words I find easier to spell than others!

Top Tips for Writing - Silverstream School

We really want to help you with your writing. Here are some ideas that we use all the time.


  • Look at a check list to see what you need to do 
  • If you don't know how to spell a word check it in a dictionary
  • If you are working on-line and the word is underlined in red use the spell checker 
  • Always re-read your work to make sure that it makes sense
  • Work with a buddy because they can help you with ideas and spelling
  • Plan your ideas so you can make sure they are in order
  • Make sure as you are writing to check that it is following your plan
  • Add descriptions to help make your writing more interesting

Silverstream Smart Streamers

Look at us!


Here we are and we will be telling you about all the positive things about using devices in the classroom and at home. These are some of the apps and websites that we prefer to help with our learning:

Book Creator - helps share what we have learned. We think that before jumping onto the app planning your ideas using a story map will get ideas from your head in order and help it make better sense.

Oxford Owl - Is a great link that give access to over 200 books. The awesome thing about this is that it reads the story out loud to you for you to follow. You have a choice about what age and book type.

Sumdog - You get to play games that help you with your Basic Facts. We like Sumdog because it is really fun. There are animals that show you what level you are at. It is kid friendly; it doesn't have any bad language. 

Study Ladder - It is similar to Sumdog but it covers many more subjects. Tasks are set by your teacher and it can help you review your class learning. You can challenge people from all around the world. You also have a choice as to what stage you work in. Something to remember is that it sometimes needs Flashplayer to work.

We will look at posting or commenting weekly on the blog- adding questions, sharing learning and commenting on each others posts. A great first meeting!

Sharing our Learning

We are sharing our learning. We shared Google Docs, Mathetics, Using numeracy equipment, group sizes. 
Students also talked about how working with devices helps focus their learning. Book creator is an easy way to share research.  Google drive was also another way to present learning. The Peacock Spider was lots of fun. Word cue which has predictive text. It makes it easier to get your ideas down on paper.
